Nothing exciting to mention so today will be a short post. Oh ..seems I am going through something healing.. been having some flu like symtoms.. puffiness, aches, scratchy throat.. sometimes a bit feverish but nothing that stops me. The next day I will feel fine... Found a great link through some posts today...www.rawfood-Explained.com Check it out ... it is a great informative site...

Checking in

Hello Journal,
Checking in. It has been a while, but I can say I have been doing well staying mostly raw. Finances are still slow but I will not go to the store anymore and buy anything but raw. Any SAD stuff that does get in the house hubby wants.

I have been working lately so time on the PC is almost nill and void. My schedule has also been changed to evening so I do not write here much.

Been bringing my lunch and snacks to work to keep away from the machines there. I will juice something at home and make enough to have a quart to bring with me for midday (work day) drink. Usually greens, cucumber, celery, a banana (blended in of course not juiced). Sometimes I will just blend all the aforementioned foods together for the fiber. I get some funny comments at work but who cares.

Lunch at work I bring a salad of greens, spinach, romaine sometimes red bell pepper, cucumbers, celery with dressing of avocado, ACV, salt, pepper, garlic maybe red bell pepper also.

For snacks I bring;
*Walnuts, Brazil nuts, cashews
*Pumpkin seeds
*Crackers made from all these with maybe black strap molasses, banana, and dates added sometimes some ground cocao also for a touch of chocolate and sweetness. Great to keep that sugar monster away. I do not go to the machines because these satisfy those sweet cravings
* Bananas
*Sliced apples
* Raisins, goji berries Sometimes mixing the two with soaked, dehydrated with some salt sunflower seeds. This satisfies that sweet and salty craving. Been considering dehydrating some blueberries.. But can not keep them around long enough.

Banana for sweet after lunch treat.

I do need to find something else to drink tho. When wanting something different then water to drink and the only thing is coffee or sodas. I do not like many teas..Hot or cold... If anyone has a suggestion please let me know.

I have been walking further as I park further away from the job building. I feel my breathing is getting better. Sure can tell when I have not done walking like on weekend. I do need more walking.

I feel like I am eating constantly and need to find something more "veggie" oriented for snacks. Do they make such a thing ? Feel I am eating too many nuts as my weight is at a standstill. Great that it is not going up.. But not going down either.

We also had a graduation. My son graduated from a college that taught Graphic Arts. Yipppeeeee! I am so proud of him.
I sure hate pics of me.
Well, thought I would give a short update.. Need to get ready for work. Have some things to do around the house first. Have a great day!

Tuesday Morning

Morning Everyone,

It is a beautiful morning here in Dallas, TX. It must have rained last night because the ground is soaked. But the air smells fresh and clean and the birds are singing.

My apartment sits facing a creek where there is a lot of green trees and bushes. It is so nice to wake up to that instead of cars and people. At night I have 5 raccoons come to visit me at night because I feed them.

During the day I have birds and squirrels. I love it here.

Right now I am listening to two squirrels fighting over the food I left for them while a Mockingbird sits in a tree nearby squawking at the squirrels. Ahhh, what a day.......To bad I have to get ready for work.

Yesterday's food:

32 oz Smoothie of banana, spinach, water, sunflower seeds.

Through the day (was first day of training at work)
banana
apple
hand full of baby carrots
two tomatoes chopped, half of a cucumber diced with hemp oil, a touch of soy sauce and ACV,
Later in the day had an orange

Came home from work at 6:30PM
apple
smoothie banana, water, celery

So far this morning May 2.

32oz smoothie of juiced celery, handfull of baby carrots, apple with blended water, banana and spinach. I juiced most of it so I did not have so much fiber. Just added the juice to the blender.

Taking for lunch.......

Hand full of carrots, apple, orange, and salad of avo, two tomatoes, half cucumbers with hemp oil, AVC, and touch soy sauce..No spices....Or herbs....

I have not weighed yet. Scale fluxuates so much I just do not like to get on it.. feel lighter tho.

Quiet Day

Hi Journal,

Today has been a quiet lazy day. Hubby has been playing on pc game or sleeping. I got up today at 6 am for some reason and could not go back to sleep. Went to the sofa so as not to bother hubby. He has enough problems sleeping and I do not want to add to that. Snoozed on sofa for about an hour. By then hubby had gotten up too.

Sat. Are usually lazy..

What I had today:
In the morning I made a smoothie with sunflower seed milk, banana, and cinnamon. While that was blending I decided to make a salad for later if I got hungry.

Salad consisted of spinach greens, grated carrots, green onions, and ice burg lettuce.. (Yeah I know not much nutrients there.. But was all I had.). I also made a dressing out of some of the sunflower milk, hemp oil, half an organic banana, rosemary, oregano and a splash of apple cider vinegar. The dressing turned out pretty good. Needed to be a bit thicker... Was kind of watery.. Probably did not need the milk.. But it added a sweetness along with a part of a banana.

I had the salad later about 1pm. A large plate adding a bit of sunflower seeds also.... Finding I just can not eat onions of any kind. Even the green onions. Darn and I so like them.

About 4:30 PM I had just grated carrots with my dressing.. YUMMMMMY! And another plate of salad.

About 7 decided I wanted something sweet so I am making (it is now in dehydrator) halvah. Had a spoon full or two while making it and that satisfied me enough to wait.

Have had a lot of water today.. Had about 3-32 oz glasses, 4 bottles...Tomorrow we go for groceries.. But probably can not get a lot of my stuff...

Over all a pretty good Raw day. I am happy.. Feel light in mind and body.

Time is Dragging

It has been a few days. I have been bad.. Hanging head. lack of money has forced this hand. Hubby did grocery shopping and did not buy much I could eat. So I have been mostly eating sandwiches. But Today I had some oranges and bananas with celery and what was left of my parsley.. So I have been making smoothies. Fruit is almost gone but have given the go ahead to get some more. Think I might go look at some almonds or walnuts and dates to make a pie. I have been wanting some since all the recipe pics I have been seein are sweets. Sometimes I wonder just how good these are for us. We have just traded SAD food sweets for a lesser..maybe better for you sweet. Can they really be THAT good for you. A lot of nuts there in some recipes.

I am just happy I will be getting something I can eat again. When I get my first paycheck.. well I am getting cases of foods.. oranges, bananas, apples. A flat of strawberries lots of blueberries. I will probably have to freeze some but hey they were fresh when I got them. Oh need lots of spinach too.

Other then having little money and depressed because time is just not passing fast enough to get restocked.. I am feeling ok. On to another day..

Food today has been two smoothies with two oranges, two bananas, parsley..lots of water, and celery.

I took a short quiz and since I am a dragon at heart I wanted to post this today....

I am a A Bronze Dragon!
Hey, I took the http://dragonhame.com online Inner Dragon quiz and found out I am a Bronze Dragon on the inside.

In the war between good and evil, Bronze Dragons take the side of the noble and good....When it comes to the powers of Chaos vs. those of Law and Order, your inner dragon walks a fine line between Law and Chaos....As far as magical tendancies, a Bronze Dragon's nature does not lend itself well to the ways of Magic....

During combat situations, a true Bronze Dragon prefers to defeat opponents by the use of spells and other tactics....The inquisitive bronze dragons live along the beaches and shores of the remote islands. The Bronze Cliffs house many lairs, with open portals looking out upon the churning sea high up stone face, and entrances located deep below the surface of the water.

No matter their age, bronze dragons tend to be the most cheerful and good-natured of dragonkind.'They love the simple challenges of riddles and harmless contests, and often number master riddlers among their demihuman vassals. They are fascinated by warfare in all its forms, eagerly looking for just causes to champion with their armies of dragons and demihumans.'

Bronze hatchlings have yellow scales tinged with green. Only a hint of bronze shines upon these overlapping plates. This color deepens as the dragon ages, slowly turning to a rich bronze tone that darkens as the centuries pass. Bronze Dragons have a deep and abiding love for the sea and its good creatures, while they enjoy feasting on aquatic plant and sharks. Dragon lords especially appreciate gifts of pearls, which they consider to be delicacies.'

This Dragons favorite elements are: Bronze, Pearls, and Nobility

9:30am- blended one organic orange, 1/4 cup blueberries (were fresh but I froze them when i got home from the store), 1 medium banana, 5 strawberries (same as blueberries), water....

12:30pm- blended green shake of 2 medium bananas, 3 strawberries, 1/4 c blueberries, 1 small organic orange, 1/2 tender spinach greens, water thoughts..

1:00pm.. doing pretty good so far... will probably need to eat a real salad to get crunchies in.. looking forward to it... might make some halvah for snack.

7:00Pm Didn't make the halvah.. just too lazy... not really hungry.. ate about 1/2 cup soaked almonds. Some olives.. don't think canned olives are raw but I was in the mood..

Drank water with each meal but feel the need for something other then water to drink.

8:00pm snack... 2 frozen bananas blended smooth.. a touch of carob powder.. kind of like chocolate ice cream...stuffed happy for bed..

Being Easter today I rather stayed away from everyone. This helped me. Also the fruit helped not want ice cream or chocolate.

Great Day!

Here I am again, playing catch up. Still doing the 100% raw thing and doing well. No major problems.. Going pretty easy. This is not hard to keep up as a way of life. The hardest part is keeping the fruit and veggies in the house..

6:30am- 16 oz water with lemon

7:45am- smoothie of one banana, 1/4 cup blueberries, water

11:30am- salad consisting of dandelion greens, Romaine lettuce, red leaf lettuce, grated carrots, raisins, sunflower seeds...water 32 oz

2:00pm -- 1/2 cup walnuts ...water

6 oz6:00pm -- blended salad consisting of dandelion greens, romaine lettuce, red leaf lettuce, grated carrots, sunflower seeds, lemon juice, water.... water to drink 48oz

8:30pm- finally went to the store.. got fruit.. had two bananas with 5 strawberries

Friday, April 07, 2006

Breakfast: quart of green smoothie containing-- banana sliced and frozen, fresh juice of 4 oranges, big whopping hand full spinach leaves , small hand full parsley, half cucumber peeled, tomato

Lunch: salad of mixed greens, cucumbers, tomatoes, green beans, sprouted mung beans, dressing was not raw. Was Thousand Island.

snack: 2 small boxes raisins organic

Was pretty busy today getting eBay auctions mpacked up and mailed off. Had to make a couple collars too along with cleaning house. I did get two jobs one will start on the 18th the other will start on the 3rd of May. I am torn which one I want. Should I go with one that is more interesting or more pay??.. Both are call center which I hate. We shall see.

Been doing pretty good raw. There are some things that just are not able to be had now so I have to continue with partial SAD due to finances.. I missed a few posts but the days have been essentially the same give or take a banana here or there.

Got on the scale last night.. And unless this scale is wrong I have lost 10 lbs..Makes me at 270.... Whoo hooo! Doesn't seem to be showing anywhere yet tho.. Strange........

Busy Day

Boy it was a busy day today!

Had to go for an interview today so the day started pretty early. Interview was at 10.. So we had to leave at 9:15.. I was up at about 8 am checked email and my auctions... Then got a blender full of spinach, parsley, bananas, blueberries, water. This filled up the blender after it was blended also. I drank 32 oz of this while getting ready to go. Put the rest in a mason jar with tight lid. I had made some banana leather the night before for snacks.

Went to the interview.. Was supposed to only take about 1 1/2 hours took about 4 because they were in a meeting.. Boy oh boy... I had forgotten my leather and was starved on the way home. But we decided to bypass the eating joints to save money and eat what was at home. Such restraint..LOL...

Got home and got my jar of fruit mix and drank that while making a nice salad of romaine, carrots, ice burg, parsley, cucumbers, tomatoes, sprouted mung beans and sprouted lentiles. I have got to find a recipe for Thousand Island dressing. Maybe croutons too. After drinking my fruit.. About thirty minutes later had a large plate of the salad.

Later this evening I made some corn crackers with frozen corn, flax seed, cayenne pepper, and Celtic sea salt. Put in a few squashed cloves of garlic while at it so I could grind up my own garlic powder..

Here it is 11:15PM and not hungry at all drank water the rest of the night...

Re-stocked Some

I have re-stocked my kitchen some for a week. Did not get any nuts as they were too expensive.. So I will need to find other outlets in my creativeness. When I got home from the store I made a salad of fruits.. Orange slices, chopped up apples, bananas, and some blueberries. Made a sauce of sorts with juice of an orange and blueberries.. Yum. I made a big salad bowl full so I could have some to snack on. Hubby wanted some so shared with him. Later in the night around 8 I ate the rest of the bowl.. Whew! Also had two bananas whole while blending up some bananas for some crepes. Recipe found in Alissa Cohen's book "Living on Live Food". ( A wonderful book I might add. Think I said that yesterday huh??) I spent $53.00 on foods for me. Plus some cheese and tostada shells for hubby. Forgot all about needing fish food, paper towels and cat litter... Heavy sigh...

Hoping this will last me a week. I really feel guilty buying all this as we need insurance on the car and bills to be paid... But hubby said we needed food and all he wanted was oranges... LOL(evil grin).

Well, that is about it for today.. Not real exciting huh? Sorry..

Alissa Cohen's Book

I finally was able to get Alissa Cohen's book "Living on Live Food" (Thanks to a wonderful angel). I tell you it is a must read! The book is written in simple language to where anyone can understand the importance of eating raw foods without all the technical bits of info. There are many other books out there that give that info if this was something someone wanted.

In her book she gives testimonials of people who have been helped through many health problems by eating the raw food living food lifestyle. This book shows how caring and thoughtful Alissa is in her teachings. It shows her passion for this lifestyle and passions to help other people.

I can not wait to get going again on live foods. And if finances slow me down.. Well, this will be a time of fasting for me..I refuse to do the cooked food thing again.. I have dillie dallied for too long and have only hurt my body in doing so. Like some people in the testimonials.. I thought I was too old to mess with being serious about health..But wanted better health. I could go out and get run over by a bus or something too.. So I want to live to the fullest.. Healthiest, happiest.

Look out world!!! Here I come!!!
WHEEEEEEEEE!

Rationing

Well, finances are still very nill so food is very nill. I had it hit me last night tho this could be a good thing for me. I could do a fast of sorts. Right? Question is how does one get over the hurdles of feeling hungry.. I feel I am swimming to the bathroom..hahaha.

Finances low or not. Woke up in a fairly good mood today. Drank water to 2PM. Then decided on some carrot sticks and a cucumber with avacado dip. Felt cold in my stomach. My water is just plain tap water, but it has got to be better then nothing. Get the over all crud out of my system then we can deal with the chemicals...

I did fall down to some with wheat bread (toast)and peanut butter. Still been having cravings for these raw cookies and cakes and pies I see in the recipes on boards and such... heavy sigh...

Need to get over the "need" thing. I think that is just me panicing over not much food in the house... If I can get it through to my thick scull that I am fasting.. I might get through this.

Rent is paid..Whooo Hoooo!!! Now for the phone (so I can keep my DSL) and Electricity.. Pray for me will ya if you read this??

Not much else to say for today... thanks for stopping by..

The Weekend

Well, looks like I missed a day...March 24, 2006... Sorry about that. Don't even remember much either...

I remember having a salad twice with mung beans sprouted.. those are so very good.. soft but tiny bit crunchy too. Added a cucumber with it. Drank tea most of the day.. an herb tea with fresh juice of a lemon. We did not go anywhere so temptations were none.

This weekend has been pretty dull. Trying to conserve monies for rent. Hubby has a job interview Monday. Pray that he gets it.

Food yesterday: March 25, 2006

Woke up late.. had warm water with lemon to replace my coffee. I must need something in the lemons because they sure taste good.. do not need any sweetner or anything.

I feel this really clears out my chest congestion.... No do not have a cold but seems lately there is a lot of congestion that I cough up. Getting better every day and my chest feels lighter and more open breathing wise.. that heavy weight is not there much anymore.

Very little food in the house so I was not real raw today...refused to beat myself up because of it though.... tried to stay raw as much as possible..
Made some flax seed crakers with Italian seasonings. Thought they would go well wtih my lentiles.

Had a salad about 3 PM with some sprouted Mung beans. Flax crackers also. Decided to get some lentiles sprouted. But cooked some as well.

About 7 PM had a bowl of lentiles(cooked) and some flax crackers.. They went together well.

Sunday March 26,2006

Been sleeping in really late but then have been going to bed at like 2 or 3. Woke up with a very calm feeling but then very nervous too.. that does not make much sense but if there is such a thing as a nervous clam.. well that is the stat I am in.

Drinking my warm water with lemon.

Probably will have flax crackers and lentiles again today..Salad or green smoothie also... need to keep those greens in. I have some avacados but do not know what to do with them. Do not have alot of other items to add with them. Might just add one to a smoothie.

I feel as if all nerves are on end due to worrying that rent will get paid. But for some reason there also is a calm.. Weird.

We have some auctions going but unsure if they will bring in what we need. Be so thankful when life is back and running as smoothly as before. Hate living in worry this way. Heavy sigh!

First full day ......

Hi Journal,

Well, this was the first full day of 100% raw and it went well. I stayed up late last night because I got into reading some articles online. So I slept in some. Got up around 10 am due to a phone call. Could have gone back to bed but did not. Instead I juiced a lemon and added warm water..This was my "morning coffee"

Surprisingly this held me all morning. I did not start to get hungry until around 3 PM. So decided to make a salad.. A very simple, one with salsa for the dressing.. I added a tiny bit of cumin and cayenne to give a slight Mexican flavor. It was a big plate so I got full. This held me until about 6. At this time I had some more salad which only consisted of some romaine and some cucumbers both at dinner and at lunch and again with the salsa..Yes all was raw and home made. I had no cravings until about 9 so I made a drink of raw almond milk, ground cacao, (soaked some in the almond milk. This seems to soften the cacao some so it blends better.) Then added a TBSP of coconut oil, and a touch of cinnamon. Added enough warm water to make a 32 oz glass. Tasted like hot chocolate.. Yummy...

Doesn't sound like much, but lately had not felt much like eating.. I felt tired all day but I know it was due to not getting to bed until 4 am. So I am off to bed to get some rest.. See you tomorrow.

Welcome to Aromatic Wings in the Raw!

Hi Everyone and Welcome!

I am embarking on something new here. I have never blogged before so please bear with me. Here you will find me, Debbie, aka Aromatic Wings, in my journey through Rawdom. What does this mean? Well, It means I am on a healthy quest and it involves eating only raw fruits, raw veggies, raw nuts, and raw seeds.

I am learning both blogging and being accountable for my raw self. Here I will give detail of what I have eaten and any comments I have about the day. I am also hoping this will help me with weight loss so I will be adding every now and then a weight if there seems to be any changes. So come with me and I hope you will have fun and will learn as much as I do along the way.

Just to let anyone know. I am not a newbie at being raw. I have been back and forth for about a year's time now. But I understand that being 100% raw has better benefits and is really much healthier for you. So this is me starting 100% raw. Up until this point the I have to say that I have had tremendous results even eating partially SAD (Standard American Diet) and partially Raw.

I started out weighing 305lbs and because I had not stuck with this 100% I have only lost down to 280lbs. But hey, that is good for me for now. Considering the SAD stuff I had eaten up until now. But I am finding that my body is getting more sensitive to what I put into it as fuel. When I do have sugar of some sort I do not feel well at all. I get all flushed and heart races.. It is not a fun feeling. And this is coming from a sugar freak up until about a year or so ago.

Due to finances, I am not able to eat the fancy dinners that you can find on the web for raw eating. I am fine with that. Please do not let finances keep you from doing this way of life. It Can be done with very little money. I priced a weeks worth of food for just me once and I ate like a Queen for this week. For only about $30.00. It takes an imaginative mind, some creativity and just a bit of just plain resigning to the fact that you can not have all the fancy ingredients of some of the recipes out there. It is much easier to KEEP IT SIMPLE. Besides, if you get too used to having all the fancy stuff you may get discouraged because your health doesn't move along as you liked. Too much fats from avocados or nuts can slow things down. But just remember that pay for your health NOW or pay dearly for it LATER.

Do yourself a big favor and give your body the nourishment it is crying for. Do a google search for Raw and living foods and start Your Own healthy quest to a happier healthier YOU.

Tomorrow I will give you a full days worth of what has been eaten. If you have any comments or questions please feel free to ask.

Thank you for visiting me here.
